Cindy Houpt
500 RYT, Yoga Therapist Candidate, Certified Personal Trainer (NASM)
My Story
Cindy worked many years in the medical field as a cardiac nurse and registered cardiac sonographer. She excelled in her profession and was frequently called upon to teach others in the field. She was an
invited speaker on a local and national level.
After leaving nursing several years ago, she worked hard to maintain her physical and emotional
fitness. Yoga became a big part of that routine. She began to realize that yoga is so much more than
the poses one sees on the covers of yoga journals. It is a comprehensive, holistic approach to wellness.
Yoga teaches an awareness of subtle energies and an understanding of all that yoga offers to keep that
energy flowing.
Cindy decided to become a certified yoga teacher. She earned her initial certification in 2016 and
hasn’t stopped her yoga studies and certifications since. She is currently enrolled in a Yoga Therapist
program with Prema Yoga Institute in New York. This in depth certification is through I.A.Y.T.
(International Association of Yoga Therapists) and adheres to strict guidelines set forth by that
governing body. I.A.Y.T. defines Yoga Therapy as “... the process of empowering individuals to
progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings of yoga.”
This training includes in depth focus on the physical body, emotional body, mental body, breath body,
and spiritual body. The Yoga Therapist works with the client(s) to recognize imbalances and apply the
tools of yoga to re-establish balance and energy flow.
Cindy teaches in a gentle, individualized manner. She strongly believes that a student should never feel
the need to force themselves into a yoga pose and under the guidance of a knowledgeable teacher, yoga
can be adapted to fit the individual.
Let Cindy share her love of all things yoga, gracefully moving through life with vitality and joy
